Pumice Stone A volcanic scrubbing natural rock!

In Canada, we have one of the few known natural sources of pumice stones. Pumice stone is the natural residual material of volcanic activity. Our stones come from Mount Meager in British Columbia. These are extremely porous volcanic stones whose low-density allows them to float. The pumice stone is formed when a temperature of 500 to 600 degrees Celsius is reached. The expulsed lava cools very quickly and the drop in pressure causes an outgassing that creates bubbles, hence the stones’ porosity and low density. They are composed of rhyolite, dacite or andesite fragments.

Pumice stone has been in use since Roman times and is suitable for use on the hands, elbows, soles of feet and heels.

These stones were selected for their properties.

Pumice stone is also used by bonsai tree enthusiasts. Its absorption qualities allow for the storing of water and fertilizer needed to keep bonsais healthy. Now more than ever, people are using this stone instead of akadama.

Our pumice stones are available in their original form or ground for use in the fabrication of exfoliating soaps and cosmetic cremes.

Instructions
Gently massage rough skin and calluses with stone for several minutes in the bath or shower. Use a little soap or bath gel to reduce friction.
